Overview
Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation, on behalf of the Government of Sierra Leone, committed to adopting and upholding the Universal DPI Safeguards Framework across its national DPI and broader digital transformation agenda. The commitment advances secure, sovereign, and people-centered DPI by embedding data minimization, privacy protections, secure-by-design standards, and equitable accessibility across foundational and sectoral DPI. Sierra Leone will also institutionalize safeguards oversight through its Open-Source Programme Office, integrate safeguard diagnostics into mandatory pre-compliance vetting, and strengthen citizen redress and multi-stakeholder engagement. The Government will further share its implementation experience through regional and global platforms, while working with the African Union Commission and ECOWAS to align safeguards across cross-border interoperability frameworks.
