Overview
OpenCRVS, steward of the open-source OpenCRVS Digital Public Good for civil registration and vital statistics, committed to adopting the Universal DPI Safeguards Framework in the design, development, and support of its platform. The commitment focuses on embedding safeguards directly into the platform, including designing for hard-to-reach populations through offline-first and alternative registration pathways, strengthening privacy and data protection through data minimization, purpose limitation, access controls, and auditability, and supporting implementing governments with documentation, training, and redress mechanisms. OpenCRVS will also engage civil society, registration practitioners, and implementation partners throughout the DPI lifecycle and openly share its source code, architecture, and lessons learned with the broader DPI Safeguards and Digital Public Goods communities.
