Launch the Nzika Wallet mobile application, enabling citizens to store and access their digital IDs. Citizens will be able to apply online for services such as national IDs, birth and death certificates, and use their digital ID to verify their identity to access government, social protection, banking, and mobile money services. The new digital IDs will not require periodic renewal, and the wallet is designed with strong security and privacy protections.

Expand the deployment of biometric, digitally-signed QR codes for real-time identity verification, including in areas with limited connectivity. The solution has already been tested and used by approximately 1 million people; it is now being considered for nationwide deployment.

Pilot and deploy the Nzika Mobile Application for integrated birth, death, and marriage registration at Traditional Authority (sub-district) level with offline functionality and biometric authentication. This app marks a significant step forward in modernizing Malawi’s civil registration and digital identity systems. It will expand access to essential services for all citizens, particularly marginalised and hard-to-reach populations.
